Launched an interactive campaign for GOD, James Moore's first NFT DROP on Foundation.

GOD
by James Moore

A virtual gallery, gueRrilla promo, social assets, and an auction on Foundation.

THE UMBRELLA in collaboration with James Moore offered the iconic piece of NYC street art GOD as both a full scale 14-foot digital print file and as a 1-of-1 NFT on Foundation.

GOD is a massive 14’x10’ vinyl print which holds Brooklyn’s underground culture history, formerly used as decor for a multi thousand person rave in Brooklyn circa 2015. Created by James Moore, the piece has been tattooed on human beings, pasted all over New York City, and screen printed for charity.

The highest bidder received, in addition to the digital print file, a full scale vinyl print of the artwork, and permanent access to the interactive version, currently on view at the virtual gallery Antibody Club.

The Story

The print artwork gained notoriety in 2015 when it was produced by Christine Tran (formerly Witches of Bushwick, DiscWoman) and Becca McCaren of Chromat, to be sold as a limited print edition.

From there it took on a life of its own, becoming ubiquitous: it was pasted all over Brooklyn and Manhattan, inked as tattoos, and was exhibited as an immersive installation by both the legendary Silent Barn and by RINSED. In 2020, a limited run was produced as a relief effort for Covid-19— funds from sales were donated to the charity Direct Relief.

Guerilla Promo

In a hectic but fun lead up to the drop, we trespassed, scaled towering objects, clipped locks off storage units, and flew drones over restricted airspace. To create some promo / mix of our experiential and guerilla skills.

Artist Statement about the Artwork

By combining imagery from nature, technology, science and spirituality, I aim to help illuminate the power that resides in people, and raise questions that will help others ascend to higher versions of themselves by visually unlocking mental and spiritual gateways with my art, and in turn empowering others.

How does free will and choice influence the ever-changing relationships between technology, nature, and humanity? Can we influence the technocracy of our current social construct, the effects of capitalism, and the weaponization of technology? This work serves to create a bridge to help us understand the duality we live in, between what we know as the natural self and how technology is shaping ourselves into new beings.
